Harbour, central city and Town Belt, Wellington

Wellington's Town Belt is a stunning feature of the city landscape – an arc of public green space that brings nature and outdoor recreation opportunities into the heart of the city.

It has been an important part of Wellington's heritage and identity since the 1840s. Few cities in the world can boast such an asset.

     'Behind Government House' Guided Walk, 16 March 2008

  The Friends participated in the 2008
  'Stepping out' walking programme by
    leading a walk round a little-known
  part of the Town Belt . The route
  passed numerous points of historic   and natural history interest as well
  as viewpoints over Wellington and

Hazardous Tree Removal on the Town Belt

The Friends held a public meeting on 29 April at which the City Council Forester, Kevin Reardon, gave an update and answered questions.
